Georgia on my mind… The NCAA experience is
very cool and I wish more people from Hampton Roads had an opportunity to experience it. The town of Athens, GA is passionate
of collegiate tennis and their Bulldogs. Nothing like seeing 5,000 people go
nuts as there Bulldogs win the national championship. The Monarchs were will represented with Harel Srugo and Henrique Cancado
in the singles and doubles draw. The UVA #1 player won the NCAA men’s singles and W&M women advanced to the NCAA
women’s doubles final and the W&M men’s doubles team won a round. With the results this year the East coast
collegiate teams really shined….
It is very pleasant to see many junior tennis players
playing more tennis. Lessons and clinics are nice; however, when a kid gets playing tennis in the appropriate environment
is when they are really hooked. Play first and learn latter. I really like that TTF circuit of tournaments run by Dave Howell.
Just an idea…. Doubles tournament where players
18 and under have to play with people 19 and over… It may develop a natural mentoring program?
